Occurrence remarks Four naturalised mature shrubs to 2 m high in collection area (5 fruiting naturalised shrubs also seen on neighbouring vacant land and other naturalised Cotoneaster simonsii plants were seen at Blackheath (many) and Katoomba (a few),. this species is often naturalised with Cotoneaster franchetii, a species that is much more common and likely to be confused with C. simonsii). Shrub erect with some branching well above ground level, branches somewhat erect. Stems grey (when dry). Leaves dark green above, paler below, hairs on both surfaces but more on lower surface, midrib distinct. Only one flower seen. Pomes to 9 mm long and to 8 mm wide, generally broader towards apex;. maturing scarlet, some still green but most changing colour; each pome containing 3 seeds. From same plants as J. R. Hosking 2252 & P. T. Gorham.
