Occurrence remarks Toxicodendron succedaneum Native of Asia, although it has been planted elsewhere, most notably Australia and New Zealand. Quite nice small tree, but not popular any more, as Toxicodendron plants produce the skin-irritating oil urushiol , which can cause a severe allergic reaction. The good news is that wax extracted from seeds is used to make lacquer and could be used as biodiesel. So, the common names: Wax Tree, or Japanese waxtree, or Scarlet Rhus.
