Occurrence remarks This plant is in the Proteaceae family because its flower pattern is a showy, complex inflorescence and its petals are atypically shaped. It is in the Grevillea genus because of its long styles and long narrow perianth separated into four long tubes. I have identified it as Grevillea sericea because the flowers are pink and occur in spider clusters. I was also able to identify it because of the thin and elongated leaf shape occurring in whorls, matching descriptions from Australian Native Plants Society and plantnet.gov. The location of Southern Sydney and flowering times also matches the plantnet information. Another option for the local area is Grevillea buxifolia but I eliminated this because those are greyish, while the sericea are typically pink or red-ish and because they have wider leaves.
