Occurrence remarks | North facing hill side, near the junction of two paths. In the Sassafras Wildlife Refuge the life span of an Androcalva fraseri tree seems to be around 12 -15 years. They do sucker frequently so the loss of one tree or stem is not the end of the plant. They create dense shade rapidly, very fast growing small straight trees to around 5 - 7 metres.Mature leaves are quite a different shape to immature foliage. |
