Occurrence remarks A widespread area west of Peregian Beach was burnt on 10 Sep 2019. Evacuation of surrounding residential areas took place at that time. Observations were carried out at Emu Swamp (Noosa National Park), in a flat, low elevation area of coastal plain, about 800m west of Peregian Beach. The access track (service road) is slightly higher than the adjacent poorly-drained, swampy area. Dimensions of swamp: approx. 7 kms N-S, 1.5 kms E-W.Since this fire there has been strong regrowth of ground cover. Bordering the swamp is paperbark (Melaleuca) forest; many of those trees along the eastern fringe of the swamp appear to have been severely burnt. A thin band of trees along the access track generally experienced only light to moderate fire damage; many of their branches show new shoots and leaves.
