Occurrence remarks Subject is the rusty brown coloured clump attached to basal axis of canopy brown algae(and also a much smaller clump can be seen higher up another main axis in upper R in image) .[NB: In my experience in S.A. algal axes are a relatively unusual point of attachment for Celleporaria spp. bryozoan colonies,which I'm fairly sure this one is. However bryozoan larvae probably quite often settle on other invertebrates coating macroalgal stems,e.g. sponges and ascidians. And on this dive there were many other Celleporaria spp colonies- most being as small or smaller- in the usual places including on rock ledges and cave walls,pebbles,large shell fragments, and a variety of living bivalve molluscs,notably Pinna bicolor (which however was not common on this dive).]
