Organism remarks Gregarious, in small compact groups, crowded or scattered, stalked, subglobose, 0.5-1.0 mm diameter, dark brown, total height 1 mm. Hypothallus shiny, membranous disc, black with outer edges fading to tan-brown. Peridium partly evanescent, remaining as a collar curled down toward the stem, and/or an apical disc, membranous, shiny. Stalk stout, black, shiny, ?wrinkled, less than half total height. Columella a tapering extension of the stalk, wrinkled, usually ending in a cup or funnel shaped apical disc although sometimes not evident/present. Capillitium emerges from the expansion disc, dark brown, straight, long, not anastomosing, branching toward tips once or twice, branches short, c. 2 um diameter near tips, swellings/bumps/rough present, particularly toward the tips. Spores light brown, 11-12 um diameter, densely minutely warted.
