Occurrence remarks Laurel Clock Vine, Thunbergia laurifolia. Rampant climbing weed. Mullumbimby, NSW, Australia, August 2019. Laurel Clock Vine appears similar to Bengal Trumpet, Thunbergia grandiflora. The leaves of laurifolia are oval-shaped, 8-15cm long and 2.5-5.5cm wide, with almost entire margins and a pointed tip. grandiflora has leaves with lobed margins and a long acute apex, almost triangular. Flowers are trumpet-shaped, blue-violet with a white or pale yellow throat. Note that Thunbergia grandiflora is also sometimes known as Blue Trumpet Vine. See Starr, F. et al. (2003).
