Dataset / Survey name NP_HEATH Vegetation Survey

Sampling protocol samplingProtocol withheld
Event remarks Now 7.75 years post fire and total species number at 47 is up from 44 at 4.5 years post-fire, down from 54 spp at 2.5 years post-fire, cf. 43 one year post-fire and 39 pre-fire. Viola cleistogamoides recorded on the plot for the first time in 2016, but only a single rosette, and was not detected again in 2018, but in 2021 14 rosettes were found, all in a single location. Darwinia camptostylis, typically a dominant shrub of unburnt heath, increased from 7 seedlings after one year to c. 60 seedlings in 2016, still small (mostly <15cm ht) but many flowering already. By 2018 I only detected about 20, but by 2021 they had increased to an estimated 100. The more dominant shrub species were counted: Banksia serrata (49, up slightly from 46 in 2018, down from 62 in 2016), Leptospermum laevigatum (95 this year, 100 in 2018, up from 72 in 2016), Hakea decurrens (22, 25, in 2018, 20 in 2016). Allocasuarina paludosa, a resprouter, c. 100 in 2021, counted as c. 85 plants in 2018. Banksia paludos
