Occurrence remarks No trunk, plants generally stay close to the ground, spreading outwards. Notes on live material by R.J. Chinnock: Pads 17-18x16-17 cm, 2-2.5 cm thick at base. Pads with a slight glacous bloom, although dull shiny. Spines buff coloured to pale yellow, larger spines brown at base, spreading or deflexed, longest to 40 mm. Two pads retained to grow on to flowering.
